An ‘identity’ workshop from Life Clubs

Stories have been told from the beginning of time – from ancient cave paintings to oral traditions of poetry to European minstrels and writers, as well as Middle Eastern Sufis and scribes, no culture is without their lineage of storytellers.

What we are going to focus on is the way stories bring new energy and perspectives to understanding yourself and your problems.

Perhaps you’ve never thought of yourself as a storyteller before. However, storytelling is such an integral part of being human we barely notice it. It’s everywhere, from the blogs we write to the gossip columns we read and the television we watch. Or even the gossip that flies around the office and round your family.

You might even find that the story you are telling about your life is just that – a story. This workshop will enable you to recognise the story you tell yourself and others. And, of course, the wonderful thing about stories is that you can change the script.

This workshop is one of 50 (with more being added all the time) from Life Clubs. Life Clubs run weekly across the country and focus on a different aspect of the Life Puzzle each session leading to a clearer way of thinking.

Olwyn Rolands, is an experienced and well qualified clinical hypnotherapist and life coach who has a special interest in working in education and coaching with young people with autism.

As well as this, Olwyn enjoys working with groups and so began hosting Life Clubs in Durham enabling her to use her group work skills to enable more people to make positive changes in their lives. Olwyn trained in hypnotherapy here in the northeast with Communicating Excellence after completing her NLP Practitioner course with NLP NorthEast.

Since then she has went on to gain Master Practitioner status with meta4education in London where NLP skills were focused on thinking, learning and other aspects of education.

Starting with an area of your life that you want to change, we’ll identify the factors that have an effect. People often think in a narrow way so exanding the scope is a key part of the technique. The next step is to assess those factors against current reality but without comparing yourself to other people. Action can then be taken on priority factors and progress measured.

We’ll finish with silent coaching for people to work on their priority factor.
