Taking The Woo Out Of EFT

In this presentation Andy Hunt will see if it is possible to deconstruct EFT taking out some of the more speculative elements along the way to get to a process that would make sense to a medical professional or scientist.

Invitation: If you need to justify EFT to a medically/scientifically minded person then this may give you a way to do that.

Warning: If you like 'energy' and 'quantum' explanations of EFT you are probably not going to enjoy this presentation.

Wow thanks Andy, i have looked at that article in depth and i kinda have a better idea now scientifically how it works which removes my scepticism a bit, sorry if thats pretty shallow. The beach full of holes explains it quite well. I like your mickey mouse interpretation as well, its certainly easier to read than the other :-). I must try to think less conventionally which is why i am looking forward to this change camp, even more so now i understand a bit more than i did. Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply Andy, its much appreciated.

Hi Peter,

It's a great question. 'Standard EFT' makes very little sense to conventional scientific ways of thinking about mental difficulties. Since many people like the New Age explanation that isn't a problem for them, but it can be a bugger to present this to formally trained medics and mental health workers.

There are a few different 'scientific explanations' that work for me. A summary of the most scientific can be found here.

My simple Mickey Mouse explanation is that while you have the problem in awareness the circuitry that runs those thoughts and feelings is active, the tapping provides a sensory input that interferes with the running of that process a bit like knocking a record turntable (If you are old enough to remember those :) Once the circuitry has been disrupted it won't run properly again - end of emotional response to that trigger. That's a very abbreviated explanation which I hope makes sense.

I hope that goes at least some way to answer the questions.

Hi Andy, I was just wondering if at some point during the day we could have a chat about this. I would do the session but there is another at the same time that i am more interested in. I am one of those scientific people mentioned in the description. I have seen bits and pieces of EFT with Nadine practicing in the house and to be honest i just cannot see how it can work, even though she swears by it :-) I would just like a chance to have a chat and if it was explained to me in "scientific" terms i might be able to understand it more and maybe be more inclined to give Nadine the help and support she sometimes asks me for but i normally get out of because of my scepticism. I hope its ok to be this honest, Nad says to just say what i want so i have done :-)
